Karolina Micuła found time for us between protests. She has been campaigning against the tightening of abortion laws since October 19, even before the Constitutional Tribunal’s ruling was announced. The talented singer, a two-time winner at the 38th Stage Song Review in Wrocław, was admired for her bold and moving interpretation of the song Arahja. While performing Kult’s song, the actress painted her bare breasts white and red, singing, “My body divided by a wall.”

Karolina Micuła:

I am not afraid of Friday’s protests in Warsaw. We expect crowds; we will set off from three locations.

Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. we will stream the press conference.

I encourage everyone to come to Warsaw.

Strikes require tremendous courage and determination.

We already went on strike in 2016, but now smaller towns that previously did not take part in strikes are joining us.

It is harder to strike in smaller towns than in Warsaw.

There are increasingly more provocations from people who do not support our demands.

We do not engage in provocations; it makes no sense at all.

The incident involving a car in Warsaw was a provocation by the government.

We will have volunteers to protect these marches.

If someone is under the influence of alcohol, they will be asked to leave the demonstration.

In addition to our strikes, there is a nationwide strike by students, LGBT organizations are striking, and other organizations are striking as well.

I watch hundreds of video reports from protests in different places across Poland. That is a great strength. I feel that we can change something and that we are on the threshold of major change.

During one protest, 20,000–30,000 people marched. Over several hours, they covered 15 km.

We protested outside Jarosław Kaczyński’s home.

We process and release our negative emotions through singing and dancing.

For four years, there has been a political debate about who gets to decide about my body.

My body is mine, period.

It is worth talking about the Abortion Without Borders initiative. You can contact them.

I would like to live in a country where a woman’s body does not cause outrage. A woman’s body is beautiful.

The female body and nudity have appeared in art for a long time. Nudity is truth.

Christian culture is built on shame and guilt. According to it, we should be ashamed of everything connected with the naked body.

Our civilization uses the female body as a political tool. This is because we live in a patriarchal civilization. It has been this way for centuries.
