The protest is a response to the worsening situation of retail workers. The organizers point to key demands, including a PLN 900 pay rise, the introduction of a Company Social Benefits Fund and increased staffing.

Union representatives report strong interest in the action – in recent days, they have received numerous inquiries from employees about the details of the protest and the rules for participation. Former Dino employees and people employed by other retail chains are also encouraged to support the initiative.

Reasons for the protest

The main reasons given for organizing the strike include:

  • wages only slightly above the minimum wage,
  • work overload resulting from staff shortages,
  • violations of workers’ rights, which – as the union representatives emphasize – have been repeatedly confirmed by the Państwowa Inspekcja Pracy.

According to the organizers, the current situation affects not only current working conditions but also the future of employees, including the amount of their pension benefits. They point out that excessive exploitation may lead to a deterioration in workers’ health and consequently lower benefits in the future.

Demand to introduce the ZFŚS

Particular emphasis was placed on the need to introduce a Company Social Benefits Fund, which – according to the union representatives – should operate at the company, but is currently absent. In their view, this constitutes a violation of applicable regulations. The fund is intended to provide genuine social support for employees, including after they finish their working lives.

Appeal for unity and commitment

The organizers emphasize that the effectiveness of the actions depends on the number of employees involved. They encourage people to join the trade union and actively participate in efforts to improve working conditions.

Despite – as they claim – obstacles from the employer concerning union activities, they declare that they will continue their actions and fight for the demands to be fulfilled.

The warning strike is intended as a signal of opposition to the current conditions and a call for urgent changes in the retail sector.
