KPP Bolesławiec:
Autumn is a very difficult time for drivers. After the summer period, when the road surface was dry and visibility was very good, the time has come for sudden changes in road conditions. Heavy rainfall and falling leaves can cause the braking distance to increase significantly.
In addition, reduced visibility and excessive speed are factors that have a huge impact on road safety.
Between 25 and 27 September, Bolesławiec police recorded as many as 25 road collisions. The officers:
It seemed that the black streak would never end. Police officers drove from one incident to another, which meant that those who reported them had to wait for the officers to arrive. Fortunately, none of the collision participants suffered serious injuries. Preliminary findings indicate that many dangerous situations could have been avoided if the drivers had been travelling at lower speeds.
We described many of these incidents in our reports:
Friday, 25 September
- a car overturned between Zebrzydowa and Czerna
- a bus collided with a Peugeot on Kosiby Street in Bolesławiec.
Saturday, 26 September
- a collision in Golnice. Two vehicles collided; two people suffered minor injuries
- a car overturned near Dino in Wykroty
- two road incidents in Stara Oleszna
- an overturned vehicle near Lubków
- a car left the road between Warta and Łaziska. Two people were taken to hospital.
Bolesławiec police officers:
We appeal to drivers: ease off the accelerator; and to pedestrians: wear reflective items and make sure you are visible to others.
