The construction of the Bolesławiec hospital for people suffering from COVID-19 is under way. The first modules from Görlitz arrived in the City of Ceramics during the night of September 23–24. Zwycięstwa Street was closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. As reported by the Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej:

The first modules of the new hospital building were positioned in the designated location. More modules will arrive tonight.

Let us recall. On Wednesday, September 23, a press conference attended by local government authorities took place at the Bolesławiec Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej. The meeting focused on progress in the construction of a new hospital for coronavirus patients.

Kamil Barczyk, director of the county hospital in Bolesławiec:

An exceptional day, not only for the hospital, but for our entire local community, the region, the Jelenia Góra subregion and the Legnica subregion. An exceptional time because of the raging pandemic that we have been dealing with since the beginning of March. Thanks to the support of local government authorities and the support of the marshal, it is possible to rapidly carry out investment projects for patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. This is an exceptional and highly innovative investment on a Polish scale.

What will the local community gain?

Modules for 65 coronavirus patients. The director:

We are increasing the number of places available in Lower Silesia for infected patients. There are already very few such places. That is why it is so important for this investment to be completed quickly.

We are also improving the quality of treatment. Thanks to this investment, the hospital will be able to admit uninfected patients.

Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak:

What happened in March in Poland, Europe and around the world meant that our hospital began performing an additional function and became a frontline hospital in the fight against the COVID virus. Since March, we have been thoroughly rebuilding and equipping the hospital. None of this would have been possible without funding from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the state budget and the municipalities of Bolesławiec County. All these goals were also achieved thanks to the involvement of the budget of Bolesławiec County itself.

The decision to build another hospital building was made about a month and a half or two months ago. The hospital director chose the technology in which the building would be constructed. Thanks to this choice of technology, I hope that the new hospital building will be fully operational by the end of October.

Marshal Cezary Przybylski:

I wanted to congratulate you on the idea, because it really is innovative. The fact that this ward will be able to admit patients by the end of October is very good news not only for the residents of Bolesławiec County, but also for the residents of Lower Silesia. All experts indicate that a new wave of the epidemic will occur, so places for treating COVID patients are certainly essential.

Deputy Marshal Marcin Krzyżanowski:

We already have several months of experience in fighting coronavirus. From the very beginning, we worked shoulder to shoulder with the Bolesławiec hospital and local government authorities. We did not take long to decide whether to support this investment.

First, we need these places, and it is good that they will be created here. Second, we must not forget about other diseases, because they existed, exist and will continue to exist.

Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman:

Let me remind you that several months ago there were personnel changes at the hospital, which led to organizational changes and an investment offensive. Today it is clear that these were good decisions.

He added:

This investment drive is greater than all the investments carried out over the last ten years. It brings me great joy, because Bolesławiec deserves a good hospital.
