While patrolling the town, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec noticed a 21-year-old man, well known to them, leaving a multi-family residential building. KPP:
The police checked the young man because he had previous property-related offenses on his record and was carrying a valuable bicycle.
The suspected 21-year-old tried to mislead the officers. He told them that the bicycle belonged to his sister, who was currently at school. The police contacted the school, and it turned out that no such student attended it at all. The suspect then changed his account of the circumstances in which he had come into possession of the bicycle.
It did not help him much, however. The man was arrested and charged with handling stolen goods, an offense punishable by between three months and as many as five years in prison.
It turned out that the bicycle, worth PLN 1,500, had been stolen from a stairwell during the night of September 14–15. The vehicle has already been returned to its owner.
