KPP Bolesławiec:

Officers conducted operations in locations where the greatest number of dangers related to drivers failing to comply with applicable road traffic regulations occur. During the operation, police officers used, among other things, video recorders, laser speed meters and devices for measuring alcohol content in the body.

Across Lower Silesia, officers checked more than 1,400 vehicles in total. As it turned out, more than 800 drivers were travelling too fast. Twenty-eight of them were speeding on the roads of our county.

What is more, two of those 28—“due to a gross violation of the applicable speed limits in built-up areas”—lost their driving licences. (Across the entire province, there were as many as 21 such people).

Police officers:

Concerned for the safety of people travelling on the roads of Lower Silesia, we once again appeal for caution and compliance with road traffic regulations. We also remind you how important it is to drive at a speed adjusted to the prevailing road conditions—that is, one that allows the driver to remain in full control of the vehicle and, if necessary, stop before an obstacle that appears or avoid it without unnecessary risk.

It is also worth emphasising that the consequences of “breaking” road traffic regulations are not always borne by those responsible, because in many cases other road users suffer as a result of their recklessness. Therefore, police officers will discipline drivers who, by travelling at excessive speed, may cause someone’s tragedy.
