Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec arrested the same man twice within a few days. Asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:

First, while carrying out activities related to the theft of gold jewellery, police officers from Kruszyn established that the 42-year-old suspect from Warta Bolesławiecka municipality was also responsible for stealing a passenger vehicle. The thief stole the car at a petrol station in Legnica County.

Police arrested the 42-year-old as he was getting into the stolen car. Two days later, the same man stole another vehicle—this time a van—at a petrol station in Bolesławiec municipality. The perpetrator was arrested by a Bolesławiec traffic patrol while driving the stolen vehicle with substituted registration plates.

In both cases, the man took advantage of the moment when the drivers, having refuelled their cars, left the keys inside the vehicles and went to pay for the fuel.

The 42-year-old was charged by officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters with three offences: stealing a van, stealing gold jewellery and making criminal threats. In addition, he will be held responsible for stealing a vehicle in Legnica County. The suspect faces a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.

Police officers:

We urge drivers not to make life easier for criminals and not to leave their car keys in the vehicle, even for a short time, because they can very quickly lose their valuable property.
