The incident occurred in December last year in Legnica. A 41-year-old engineer from Jawor insulted two paramedics. In May this year, the prosecutor's office filed an indictment against the man, accusing him of two offences.

In the summer, the District Court in Legnica issued a verdict in the case. The court found the man from Jawor guilty of the acts he was accused of. The man was sentenced to one year of restriction of liberty, during which he will have to perform 20 hours of community service per month. The 41-year-old must also pay, among other things, compensation to the injured parties.

– Paramedics, while performing their duties – their difficult and responsible work – are protected in the same way as public officials, explains prosecutor Lidia Tkaczyszyn, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica. – The insult took place during and in connection with the performance of the paramedics' official duties. This offence is punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to one year.
