On the green area next to the Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej in Bolesławiec—and within approximately three months—a new building will be constructed to house an infectious diseases ward with 65 beds. Work has begun.

We reported on the matter at the end of July. Let us recall that the new infectious diseases ward is to be ready in October. The cost of its construction is PLN 6–7 million. The funds for this purpose have already been secured.

What will this achieve?

According to forecasts, a second wave of the epidemic will begin in Poland in the autumn. The hospital management and the county authorities want to be prepared for it. Thanks to the separate ward, the entire facility will not have to be closed again. What is more, patients who do not have coronavirus will not have to “feel the breath on their backs” of those infected with COVID-19.

Furthermore, the pediatric and internal medicine wards at the ZOZ will be able to resume operations. (The current infectious diseases ward, intended for patients with coronavirus, will probably remain that way).

Is it possible to build a new ward so quickly? Yes, because it will be constructed using a modular system. (Here, the so-called COVID Act came to the aid of the hospital authorities).

We will certainly return to this subject.
