The justification for the resolution is the fact that the dynamically changing climate, particularly rising temperatures and the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events (torrential rains, floods, inundations, heatwaves, droughts, hurricanes, etc.), poses a threat to the social and economic development of many countries around the world, including Poland. It is therefore necessary to take action to adapt to the projected effects of climate change.
The purpose of preparing the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the city of Bolesławiec is to establish a basis for the city authorities to make strategic and investment decisions that take into account the risks resulting from climate change. Its implementation will contribute to planning adaptation measures appropriate to local needs, followed by their gradual implementation in the areas and fields most vulnerable to these changes, which will also improve the safety and quality of life of residents.
The Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Plan is also intended to help secure external funding to address the city's most important climate change-related problems.
The document will take into account existing strategic documents supporting broadly understood urban policy.
