On Monday, 27 July, a Reader, a resident of Małachowskiego Street in Bolesławiec, wrote to us:

11:00 p.m. – You cannot open the window because there is a smell of some kind of sulfur outside; of course, it is the Dolne Młyny area. If it is not the smell of sewage, then now the devil knows what it is.

She added:

It always stinks here. The smell of sewage is normal.

We asked Bolesławiec's PWiK about the matter. Józef Król, the company's president:

In response to the inquiry about the causes of bad odors in the Dolne Młyny area, we inform you that there are three potential sources of these odors: the operating wastewater treatment plant, dried-out traps in street drainage inlets connected to the sewage system, and the fertilization of fields with manure, which has already begun. Our ability to take action and provide assistance concerns the first two cases.

The president adds:

Immediately after the report was received, we increased the dose of the neutralizing agent in the wastewater treatment plant's misting installations and began filling the grates of drainage manholes along the roads in this area with water.
