At the green area next to the Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec—and within approximately three months—a new building will be constructed to house an infectious diseases ward with 65 beds. The investment is currently in the preparation phase, and work is scheduled to begin in early August.

The new infectious diseases ward is to be ready in October. The cost of its construction is PLN 6–7 million. The funds for this purpose have already been secured.

What will this achieve?

According to forecasts, the second wave of the epidemic will begin in Poland in the autumn. The hospital management and the county authorities want to be prepared for it. And thanks to a separate ward, there will be no need to close the entire facility again. What is more, patients who do not have coronavirus will no longer “feel the breath on their backs” of those infected with COVID-19.

Moreover, the pediatric and internal medicine wards at the Healthcare Complex will be able to resume operations. (The current infectious diseases ward, intended for patients with coronavirus, will probably remain that way).

Is it possible to build a new ward so quickly? Yes, because it will be constructed using a modular system. (The so-called COVID Act came to the hospital authorities’ aid here).

We will certainly return to this subject..
