Statement from the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship

On behalf of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, we inform you that the statements presented by Mr Robert Golba, president of Alex Stern, regarding the lack of plans to launch a railway line running across the bridge in Pilchowice are untrue.

Railway line no. 283 Jelenia Góra–Lwówek Śląski, on which the historic bridge over Lake Pilchowickie is located, is planned for revitalisation in order for the Lower Silesian regional government to launch railway services on it. The procedure for taking over this railway line as an asset of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship is currently under way. Launching services on it is an important element of the regional government's plan to restore railway traffic and combat transport exclusion in the region.

At the same time, the aim of the regional government's activities in this area is to preserve and nurture the original cultural heritage values represented by the aforementioned bridge, a unique monument of engineering. The bridge over Lake Pilchowickie is an important testament to the history of industrial and technological development in the region. Therefore, the regional government fully supports the actions taken by the voivodeship heritage conservator aimed at entering the structure in the register of monuments. At the same time, in its planned revitalisation work, it undertakes to fully preserve the original fabric of the structure.

The regional government's takeover from PKP S.A. of unused railway lines is one of the most important elements of the coalition agreement concluded nearly two years ago in the Lower Silesian Sejmik between Bezpartyjni Samorządowcy and Prawo i Sprawiedliwość. To date, the regional government has taken possession of routes with a total length of more than 150 km out of the over 350 kilometres of lines planned for takeover.

At the same time, the sections of railway lines taken over by the regional government constitute an important element of the development strategy for the Koleje Dolnośląskie service network. Thanks to the consistently implemented strategy, the regional carrier expands its offer every year and sets further records for the number of passengers carried. As a result, more and more residents of the region are gaining access to safe and comfortable rail transport, enabling both daily commutes to work and convenient travel to tourist attractions.

Does this mean that the famous Tom Cruise will not be able to blow up the aforementioned bridge for the next film in the “Mission: Impossible” series? Time will tell. Details in the material from natemat.pl.
