When it gets warm, local residents flock to Krępnica—especially on weekends. The worst thing, however, is that people who want to cool off in the water on hot days often leave a mess behind. Photos and the following information were sent to the editorial inbox:
I’m walking around Krępnica and I have one conclusion: people are litterbugs. Just look at this. Can’t you really take your rubbish with you? I feel sorry for you. And then you are the ones who complain the most that it’s dirty.
I walked all the way around Krępnica; nobody cleans it up. On average, every 20–30 metres there is a full rubbish bin and litter everywhere.
Last year, Gmina Bolesławiec sold the reservoir in the village of Krępnica to an entrepreneur from Legnica County for PLN 1,350,000. The owner is subdividing plots on one side of the reservoir and selling them to individual private owners. For now, the owner does not prohibit people from swimming in the reservoir or anglers from fishing, but it is possible that these types of activities will soon require payment. Perhaps a proper beach will also be created there. And maybe then it will be clean.
