Aleksander Rerich is the local coordinator of the Przedwiośnie Association, which is also the youth wing of Robert Biedroń’s Wiosna party. It was his idea to show the residents of Jelenia Góra that people with minority sexual orientations are their neighbors. Teachers also joined the demonstration of young people. After it ended, Aleksander spoke with Bosak supporters. In the interview, we ask him about that conversation.
Aleksander Rerich:
The first demonstration of its kind took place in Jelenia Góra. I was worried that nothing would happen to anyone.
About 60 people took part in the demonstration, including teachers and people supporting LGBT.
I organized the demonstration in cooperation with Wiosna’s youth wing, Przedwiośnie, with the support of MP Robert Obaz.
I was worried that the police might record our details, but I decided to take to the streets and fight for my rights.
The demonstration was peaceful. There were no incidents such as throwing stones or hurling insults at the demonstrators.
I was supported by teachers who wrote to me and promised that they would appear at the demonstration.
Three people appeared at the demonstration with a “Bosak 2020” banner.
After the demonstration, we debated LGBT issues with people from the Młodzi dla Wolności group.
Bosak’s people said that LGBT is both an ideology and made up of ordinary people. They also believe that LGBT people want to enter schools and teach masturbation.
We believe that schools should provide sex education.
I have learned not to pay attention to hate, but many of my friends are deeply affected by such words and feel bad in this country. They want to leave as soon as possible.
PiS politicians divide and stigmatize society.
Robert Biedroń showed me that Poland could look different, that it could be equal for everyone; he gave me hope for changing Poland.
I believe that the entire left should go to the polls and vote for Robert Biedroń.
I cannot vote yet, but I am actively joining the election campaign.
I invite you to join Przedwiośnie. We operate throughout Poland.
