District Police Headquarters:
Officials from Bolesławiec Municipality nominated police officers for the challenge as part of aid efforts for Zosia, who needs help. The officers accepted the challenge to help the sick child.
As part of #zosiachallenge, police officers and employees of the Police Station in Kruszyn and the Police Post in Warta Bolesławiecka organized a group session of push-ups and squats.
Let us recall. Zosia Bojanowska is two years old and has hypoplastic right heart syndrome (HRHS). An operation in Germany has been estimated at PLN 400,000. Despite support from relatives, her parents are unable to raise that amount. They are pleading for help.
During prenatal examinations, the parents learned that their daughter’s heart had a defect. The parents began searching for a center that would undertake her treatment. Since the day she was born, Zosia has been under the constant care of specialists. The child is enduring the treatment very poorly. New difficulties arise all the time.
On the ninth day of her life, after the first procedure, her condition deteriorated drastically. She was unable to breathe independently. Sepsis set in, and further organs stopped functioning. Resuscitation was necessary, and brain hypoxia occurred. Zosia’s mother was told that this could be the end, but Zosia kept fighting! After weeks of treatment, a decision was made to perform another operation. Complications appeared again. The operations and hospital stays saved Zosia’s life, but also severely weakened her body.
Zosia is swelling, turning blue, becoming tired, and sleeping more… Operation dates at centers in Poland are far away. Her parents decided to seek help abroad, where the waiting time is shorter. Doctors in Germany decided that Zosia must undergo surgery as soon as possible because her heart may not hold out much longer and could stop beating at any moment. The child’s life, as her parents write, has been valued at nearly PLN 400,000.
