Last year, Gmina Bolesławiec sold the water reservoir in Krępnica to an entrepreneur from Legnica County. The money—PLN 1.35 million—was paid this year. “That gave us some breathing room and a sense of security in a situation where the realization of this year’s budget revenues is at risk. But we are still worried about it,” says Andrzej Dutkowski, head of Gmina Bolesławiec.

The matter is serious because the local government’s PIT revenues were more than 30 percent lower in March and April.

What about the reservoir and the surrounding area?

A. Dutkowski: “I am concerned; I had hoped that the investor would build accommodation facilities and food-service venues, and perhaps consider a conference and training center. But from what I observe, the owner is dividing off plots on one side of the reservoir and selling them to individual private owners.”

What about swimming?

For now, the owner is not preventing people from swimming in the reservoir or anglers from fishing, but it is possible that such activities will soon come at a price. Perhaps a proper beach will also be created there.

We will certainly return to this subject.
