On June 16, on Libana Street in Legnica, traffic police officers stopped the driver of an Audi. – During their conversation with the man, the officers smelled alcohol on his breath, so they checked his sobriety. The test showed that the Legnica resident had nearly two per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air – reports junior warrant officer Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.

She adds:

The 56-year-old Legnica resident will now face the court for the crime he committed. He faces up to 2 years in prison.

Driving a car while intoxicated is punishable by up to 2 years in prison and a driving ban of up to 15 years. In addition, such a person must expect severe financial consequences. Regardless of the sentence imposed, the court is required to order a monetary payment of no less than PLN 5,000 for a person committing such an offense for the first time, and no less than PLN 10,000 when a person drives while intoxicated again.
