The incident occurred on Monday, June 15, in Biała (Chojnów Municipality, Legnica County). “Police officers from the Chojnów Police Station detained a 34-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County who was driving a Mitsubishi passenger car while completely drunk. A breathalyzer test showed nearly 3 per mille of alcohol in his system,” says junior constable Jagoda Ekiert, press officer for the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters. “Additionally, during the inspection, the man did not have his driving licence with him. After checking police information systems, it emerged that instead of a driving licence, the 34-year-old had a lifetime ban on driving all motor vehicles.

But that was not the end of it. Our fellow countryman was wanted—he had a one-and-a-half-year prison sentence to serve. To make matters worse, the ‘ban violator’ was transporting two children, aged 8 and 12, without child safety seats.

Junior constable J. Ekiert: “The 34-year-old was detained, and the children were placed in their mother’s care.”

The man is facing imprisonment. In addition, he could now face between three months and as much as five years in prison.
