– We are carrying out our plan to take over and bring railway lines in the region back to life. The example of the revitalized line to Bielawa shows how eagerly our actions are awaited by local residents – says Marshal Cezary Przybylski of Bezpartyjni Samorządowcy.

The railway lines were taken over by the Lower Silesian local government from PKP S.A. under a notarial deed signed today. The revitalized lines 317 and 336 will run from the active Gryfów Śląski station, through Mirsk, to the Świeradów-Zdrój spa. The total route length is 16.2 km.

Two years of revitalization and a 20-minute journey

In December last year, the KOLTECH INWESTOR Investment Implementation Office was selected to prepare a feasibility study for the project. Subsequently, the Ministry of Infrastructure approved the transfer of lines 317/336 from PKP S.A. to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The next step toward restoring the regional connection was the signing of the notarial deed today, which officially confirms that lines 317/336 are part of the assets of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

– This is a very important route both for residents of the area and for tourists using the spas in Świeradów-Zdrój. Restoring passenger rail connections on this route will contribute to increased economic and social activity in the region – says Tymoteusz Myrda of Bezpartyjni Samorządowcy, a member of the board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The estimated cost of revitalizing the line is approximately PLN 50 million. Once all the work has been completed and the line opened for use, the route from Gryfów Śląski station to Świeradów-Zdrój will take less than 20 minutes.

A brief history of the Jizera Mountains Railway

The railway line from Gryfów Śląski to Mirsk was ceremonially opened on November 1, 1884. Then, in 1909, the section from Mirsk to Świeradów-Zdrój was added. The last train on this line ran in the mid-1990s.
