On Tuesday, 12 May, a session of the Bolesławiec County Council convened at the request of six councillors was to be held at the Stary Theatre in Bolesławiec. The meeting began punctually, but… ended in a flash. The Chair of the Bolesławiec County Council Ryszard Kawka said that he had received statements from the councillors:

Every statement read identically:

“I hereby inform you that, due to the ongoing epidemic, which is on a very large scale in Bolesławiec County, and out of concern for my own health and the health of others, I will unfortunately not participate on 12 May in the regularly conducted session of the County Council.

At the same time, I request that the proceedings be arranged in a manner guaranteeing the safety of the session participants.”

“Some of the statements reached us electronically,” R. Kawka emphasised. He immediately added:

I hereby inform the High Council that, since I share these concerns, I am announcing a recess in the session until 21 May, at 10:00 a.m. At the same time, I inform you that the further proceedings will be conducted remotely. I am announcing a recess.

Murmurs of dissatisfaction could be heard from the room, to which the chair responded:

I found out about it this morning—it is not a mockery, Councillor Russ.

A few seconds later, the online broadcast ended. What do you think?
