STATEMENT of 22 April 2020 concerning the situation at the Healthcare Facilities Complex in Nowogrodziec at 16 Lubańska Street
We inform you that:
The statement of 20 April 2020 incorrectly gave the number of people staying with a confirmed coronavirus infection; the correct number is 10 people.
As of 22 April 2020, the long-term care facilities—the Palliative and Hospice Care Facility and the Nursing and Treatment Facility—operated by SPZOZ house a total of 10 people with a confirmed coronavirus infection, out of a total of 52 patients.
Between the date the first infection was identified and 22 April 2020, the total number of patients decreased by 20, of whom: 12 were transferred for hospitalisation
to the Isolation Ward in Oborniki Śląskie, 6 were transferred for hospitalisation to the dedicated hospital in Bolesławiec, and 2 died. With reference to the statement by the Minister of Health,
which identified 3 people who died in Nowogrodziec, we inform you that the third person was a patient transferred from the hospice to the hospital in Bolesławiec.
Today, a second swab sample was collected from all 41 patients of the Nursing and Treatment Facility to confirm the initial test results.
The provision of medical services is secured by staff working rotational shifts at the facilities. Volunteers are helping at work, and we express our gratitude to them.
The total number of infections among employees is 14 out of a total of 60 people. Some staff members remain in quarantine and are awaiting test results.
Today, SPZOZ received a second delivery of personal protective equipment from the Material Reserves Agency of the Lower Silesian Voivode, transported by the 16th Lower Silesian Territorial Defence Brigade.
We assure you that we are taking every action to protect our patients and ensure the continuity of our facilities’ operations.
We thank residents and institutions for all the assistance and goodwill they have shown.
Details are available on the Nowogrodziec hospital.
