On Tuesday (September 1), the Bolesławiec police received information that a bomb might have been planted in the Kaufland supermarket. At around 5:00 p.m., employees and customers were asked to leave the store and parking lot. The supermarket was closed for several hours. The store premises were thoroughly searched. Fortunately, no bomb was found. A specially trained dog also took part in the search for the explosive device. The operation ended at 9:30 p.m.
Evacuations and searches for the alleged explosive device also took place at Kaufland stores in other Polish cities, including Legnica, Opole, Lubin and Bielsk Podlaski. The person who threatened to detonate a bomb at the Kaufland chain did not specify which store exactly was involved. The chain's headquarters was informed only that the bomb was to explode at 6:00 p.m.
