The incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, around noon, in a woodland near Matejki Street in Bolesławiec. Volunteer firefighters from Ocice:
12:15 – dispatch to a fire involving forest undergrowth near Matejki Street in Bolesławiec.
At the scene, officers found a 24-year-old resident of Lwówek County, who turned out to be responsible for the entire incident. As he explained, he had lit a campfire because he was cold. The fire got out of control.
The man, who was apprehended by firefighters and handed over to the police, will now answer for an offense. The case will be decided in court.
In addition to the firefighters from Ocice, personnel from the Bolesławiec State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit, as well as police officers and forest rangers, took part in the operation.
