Reader:
The operation of the traffic lights on Jeleniogórska Street by Leśny Potok in autumn, winter and spring makes no sense because the swimming pool is closed, while the pavement and pedestrian crossing lead only to a recreational attraction that is closed at those times of year.
And added:
They should switch them off for this period, just as the city lights switch off after 10 p.m. I don’t know whether you experience the same thing, but whenever I drive that way, the red light is always on.
Paweł Bednarski, head of the District Roads Authority:
In response to the reader’s report, I would like to inform you that the traffic lights on Jeleniogórska Street by “Leśny Potok” operate in “All red” mode. This means that a red light is lit continuously for all directions of travel. Only when a driver approaches the lights at the speed appropriate for that section of road does it change to green. Therefore, when approaching the above-mentioned lights at a speed of up to 40 km/h, the reader will not experience the discomfort associated with braking, and the lights will smoothly change to green.
And emphasizes:
I would also like to inform you that during the period when the swimming pool is closed, the traffic lights also serve pedestrians and cyclists travelling along Jeleniogórska Street to the “100th Anniversary of Independence” roundabout and then along Bolesławiec’s south-eastern bypass.
