The demolition of buildings that date back to the Second World War has begun. The hangars where forced laborers from a branch of the Gross-Rosen camp worked are slowly disappearing.

A retail park will be built on the site. The development will provide more than 9,000 sq m of modern retail and service space. The visualizations show that Castorama and McDonald’s are planned there.

It is also worth mentioning that there used to be a monument commemorating the Gross-Rosen branch by the entrance gate. The monument was dismantled some time ago. In July 2019, the managing director of Trei Real Estate Poland Jacek Wesołowski assured that the investor would commemorate the camp’s victims: “We received information that there had previously been a scouts’ monument in Bolesławiec dedicated to the memory of the prisoners of the Gross Rosen labor camp. We planned, in cooperation with the local authorities, historians and local activists, to fund and arrange a suitably prominent monument together with a memorial site.”
