The incident occurred in Głogów. The 45-year-old returned to Poland from Germany before the borders were closed. He reported to the sanitary authorities that he had the standard symptoms of the disease (fever, cough, shortness of breath), so he was placed under home quarantine.

Police officers checked every day whether the 45-year-old was complying with the quarantine, while MOPS employees did his shopping.

On Saturday, the police were unable to contact the man from Głogów. The services forced their way into the man’s apartment. His body had already been found.

The 45-year-old did not have time to be tested—he simply did not live to take a coronavirus test. Today, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica will decide whether to perform an autopsy on the deceased.

“I believe that all people who are in quarantine should be tested immediately, but access to tests is difficult,” says Głogów County executive Jarosław Dudkowiak. “Let’s change our policy and conduct tests. The system failed here; we conduct too few tests and too late.”

In a statement, Voivode Jarosław Obremski said that Lower Silesia has a sufficient supply of tests and that they are being conducted systematically.
