Elderly people who are afraid to go out to the store or walk the dog can ask for help. In various municipalities, different people are providing it free of charge.
City of Bolesławiec
Here, help is provided by ZHP scouts and people connected through Facebook. To get help, call 600 215 192 (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday).
How does it work?
The scouts explain:
We call the number provided. During the interview, the coordinator determines where the person needing help lives and then gives their phone number to one of the volunteers. They arrange a specific time and day. The person needing help prepares a specific list of ESSENTIAL items, the exact amount of money, and leaves them in a shopping bag outside the door—when they let the volunteer into the building. WE AVOID DIRECT CONTACT.
After shopping, the procedure is reversed—the shopping is left outside the door together with the receipt and change, and the person needing help collects it after the volunteer has left the stairwell.
Warta Bolesławiecka
In Warta and the surrounding area, members of the Volunteer Fire Service are helping. Requests are accepted at the following telephone numbers: 601 743 527 or 500 755 471.
The firefighters write:
We will help elderly, ill and disabled people, as well as those in quarantine, with shopping for items such as food, hygiene products and medicines, and deliver the purchased items to their homes. We will not deliver, for example, pizza.
When delivering the package, we will limit contact to the necessary minimum. Please pay for the delivered products with the exact amount prepared in advance, corresponding to the receipt.
We will shop at the nearest store or pharmacy; we will not arrange trips to larger towns.
Please pass this information on to all your friends and neighbors; let us help one another.
