Neighborhood police officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters detained a man suspected of committing two thefts and recovered the vehicle that had been stolen. (A Reader informed us about the detention, which took place on Monday, March 9.)
The detainee is a 47-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. The man stole a van worth PLN 17,000. (The vehicle’s owner had left it at a workshop because the car required repairs.)
“The perpetrator was detained on one of the city’s streets in the stolen vehicle. He tried to explain that he had the owner’s permission to drive the car. Of course, no one had allowed the 47-year-old to use the van,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. “It additionally turned out that the suspect did not even have a driving licence.”
Furthermore, it came to light that the man had also committed a shop theft involving almost PLN 600. That offence took place in January this year.
The 47-year-old resident of Bolesławiec was charged with two offences. The man is a recidivist, so he could face a sentence of between three months and as much as 7.5 years in prison.
