There are currently four patients in total in the infectious diseases ward of the Bolesławiec hospital. One was admitted on Friday, another on Sunday, and two patients were admitted on Monday. So far, there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Director of the Bolesławiec ZOZ Kamil Barczyk:
A case will probably appear in Bolesławiec soon. Sooner or later it will appear, and we will have a hospitalization. We must be fully prepared to provide supplies for half of Lower Silesia. We have been placed on alert by decision of the voivode.
The costs are very high. Hospitalizing such a patient and purchasing personal protective equipment—coveralls, masks and goggles—costs at least PLN 500–600 per day.
– You have to remain calm; the hospital in Bolesławiec is operating normally. Because of all the confusion, people are not reporting to specialist clinics. This is a major problem, because the doctor comes, there is capacity and preparation, but the patient does not show up, and appointments are being lost. I repeat: the hospital is safe. The infectious diseases ward is in a completely different location. There is no danger. I myself visit the infectious diseases ward several times a day to monitor the situation – reassures K. Barczyk.
