A few days ago, Operation Defender 20 began. We have already written about it in our articles, including US Army vehicles will not pass through the center of Bolesławiec.
It is worth emphasizing that most of the movements are scheduled for nighttime. Even more importantly, thanks to the intervention of local government officials, these movements should not cause major traffic disruptions.
How should you behave if you encounter a convoy of military vehicles?
- above all, focus on driving
- do not reach for your mobile phone to take a photo or record a video
- do not drive between military vehicles traveling in convoy
- every driver should also remember that military vehicles are very heavy and therefore have a longer braking distance.
More information is available on the website of General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
Attention! Signs
Special road signs will appear on motorways, expressways and national roads. They will not be found on local roads.
These signs will apply only to drivers of military vehicles; for civilians—drivers of passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles, and so on—they have no significance.
Military road signs, complying with ministerial regulations, are usually placed near military units or training grounds. Their presence on the roads is specifically due to the Defender 20 exercise. They will be dismantled after the operation ends.
Important!
Drivers of military vehicles are subject to the same basic traffic rules as everyone else. Ordinary military vehicles are also not emergency vehicles, except in special circumstances. (In certain exceptional situations, military vehicles may be granted priority, but in that case they will emit blue audible and visual signals.)
