The incident occurred at the end of February on Karkonoska Street in Łomnica. Off-duty traffic police officers noticed a Volkswagen. The driver's manner of driving indicated that he might be under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances.

The officers stopped the car for inspection. “When the driver opened the door, the smell of alcohol was clearly noticeable. To prevent him from driving any further, the officers took his keys and called police officers from Kowary to carry out further procedures,” says Police Superintendent Edyta Bagrowska of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra. “The driver had problems speaking and understanding what the officers were saying to him. A breath test showed more than 3 per mille of alcohol in his system.”

The 51-year-old could now face up to two years in prison.
