Police officers from the provincial headquarters in Wrocław, working with officers from Bolesławiec as part of operational activities, detained a man who attempted to smuggle nearly 3.5 kg of drugs.

The Bolesławiec SPEED group stopped a vehicle for inspection on the motorway. “A 28-year-old resident of Lubin County was behind the wheel. A customs and tax officer from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office, using a service dog, indicated places in the vehicle where narcotics might be located. In the car’s trunk, behind the upholstery, police officers found 7 packages wrapped in silver tape,” says asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. “A police forensic technician confirmed that the secured substance was amphetamine.

In total, the smuggling of nearly 3.5 kg of drugs was prevented—enough to produce, remarkably, 53,000 retail doses.

Asp. szt. Monika Kaleta:

The detention took place shortly after the vehicle crossed the border at Olszyna. The driver was traveling very fast and, thanks to the actions of the SPEED group, was stopped at the nearest petrol station.

The court remanded the suspect in temporary custody for 3 months. The 28-year-old faces a prison sentence of at least 3 years.
