The incident occurred on Wednesday evening near the skate park by the Bolesławiec viaduct. The Belarusian man, who was returning from France, told us that he had moved slightly into the opposite lane to avoid a collision. He then lost control of the vehicle. The car left the road, went down an embankment and rolled several metres below into dense undergrowth. The firefighters who arrived at the scene immediately began searching for the driver because the car was empty. They thought he had been thrown from the vehicle and that his body was lying somewhere nearby. They were greatly surprised when the man, completely unharmed, walked out of the ambulance that had arrived at the scene earlier and was parked nearby.

The Belarusian says that the engine in his car had been replaced a few days earlier, and that something had happened to the steering system the day before the accident. Despite this, he thought he would be able to get home without any problems. However, on the Bolesławiec bypass, the steering wheel stopped responding.

The police officer and firefighters communicated with the driver in English and also helped him secure the belongings from the car. The Belarusian man will return home by train or plane.
