Zgorzelec police officers from the SPEED group stopped a VW vehicle for a roadside inspection on one of the city's streets. “After checking the police systems, it turned out that the vehicle had registration plates assigned to another car and had been stolen in Lubań County,” says junior inspector Agnieszka Goguł, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. “Moreover, the 27-year-old driver was wanted by the German authorities under a European Arrest Warrant.”

Furthermore, the driver was subject to a court ban on driving vehicles, and his driving authorization had been revoked by the Zgorzelec county governor.

What is more, it turned out that the 27-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County had been driving the car under the influence of psychotropic substances. (The police decided to test him with a drug tester because he was behaving strangely.)

The man was detained and charged. He has already been remanded in custody. As he is a repeat offender, he could face between three months and as much as 7.5 years in prison.
