General Police Headquarters:

The launch of the identifier will result in a comprehensive change to the way calls are dialed and routed for the ministry's fixed-line telephones, including those of the Police. This is critically important for citizens, as well as for police officers and Police employees themselves.

How does it work?

The AB=47 identifier should be treated as a single area code for the ministry network nationwide. Officers:

Until now, each Police unit arranged the routing of traffic between the public telecommunications network (PSTN) and the ministry network independently. As a result, the numbering of each voivodeship reflected the public numbering system based on the division into 49 numbering zones. The method of dialing a ministry number from public fixed-line and mobile networks will change.

KGP:

The standardized numbering applies to the entire police telecommunications network throughout the country and covers all Police organizational units (KGP, KSP, KWP, KMP, KPP, KP and Police Schools), as well as other entities from the MSWiA group using the Police numbering range.

The Police adds:

Given the scale of the implementation and the need to gradually phase out existing contracts with public-network operators, as well as its importance for the operation of Police units, a six-month period is planned during which the previously used local numbers will continue to operate in parallel.

Details are available on the KGP website.
