Lower Silesian police officers from the Provincial Police Headquarters’ Department for Combating Drug Crime, together with police officers from Piotrków, went to a property in Bolesławiec County. (This concerns Modrzewiowa Street in the Przylesie housing estate in Bolesławiec.) The officers:
Earlier surveillance of the property raised suspicions that explosive materials might be located there.
The man was not expecting a visit from law enforcement. He was arrested in front of his home as he was driving out of the property.
Officers from the Mining and Pyrotechnics Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław were also at the scene, along with firefighters and an ambulance crew.
Łódź Provincial Police Headquarters:
It turned out that the 40-year-old’s garage contained a makeshift laboratory that could be used to manufacture narcotic and explosive substances. A decision was made to evacuate residents of nearby buildings because of the danger to life and health.
The man was taken to the Piotrków detention facility. The evidence collected in the case made it possible to charge the 40-year-old with manufacturing a significant quantity of psychotropic substances for financial gain, possessing equipment used for the illegal manufacture of psychotropic substances, and “possessing an explosive substance that could endanger the lives or health of many people or property on a large scale.”
The 40-year-old was remanded in custody for three months. He could face between six months and eight years in prison.
