Police officers from Szklarska Poręba, together with officers from Police Station II in Jelenia Góra, detained a 62-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County suspected of possessing significant quantities of drugs and preparing and cultivating cannabis.

“While carrying out activities in this case, officers obtained information that the 62-year-old had most likely organized a marijuana plantation in a former hotel building belonging to him and in the apartment located next to it,” says Sub-Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.

Nearly 900 cannabis plants and over 3 kg of dried cannabis were secured. Sub-Inspector E. Bagrowska:

The plantation was located in specially prepared rooms—mini-greenhouses equipped with devices controlling, among other things, heating, lighting and ventilation, all necessary for the plants to grow properly.

The plants secured could have yielded nearly 100,000 portions of ready-to-use drugs. The black-market value of the seized narcotics is approximately one million złoty.

At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the 62-year-old to be held in temporary detention for three months. The grower could now face between one and as many as 10 years in prison.
