At the turn of April and May, the largest movement of American troops from the USA to Europe in 25 years will take place. As part of the exercise called Defender – Europe 20, 20,000 soldiers will be transferred from the United States to Europe, while a further 9,000 will come from units already stationed on the continent. (The operation is intended to demonstrate the readiness of the US Army to act in the event of an armed conflict in Europe.)

In connection with the planned exercise, which will cover the Bolesławiec County area, a meeting was held at the Bolesławiec County Office thanks to the efforts of the county governor and the Mayor of Bolesławiec. It was attended by representatives of the local authorities, the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, and the Polish and American armies.

Good news for Bolesławiec residents!

During the meeting, military representatives—both Polish and American—announced that the military vehicle convoys participating in the operation would not travel through the city centre, and that all traffic would be routed via the Bolesławiec bypass.

County officials:

The commitments made by the military side are the result of talks that have been ongoing for some time between the Bolesławiec County Governor and the Mayor of Bolesławiec and the military command.
