The work was carried out by people appointed by non-governmental organizations and entities working on behalf of older people in Bolesławiec: Marianna Doktor – Polish Association of Pensioners, Retirees and the Disabled, Henryk Rudnicki – Dzienny Dom Senior+, Eugenia Wolska – “Carpe Diem” Teachers’ Social Club Association, Teresa Śliwińska, Krystyna Rogoś, Bożena Kulczycka – Bolesławiec Amazons Club, Tadeusz Żuk – Society of Friends of Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands, Władysław Jędryczka – Polish Armed Forces Veterans’ Association, Anna Szwedzińska – Social Welfare Home, Stanisława Śmigiel – Association of People with Disabilities, Wiesława Olczyk – University of the Third Age, Halina Waniak – Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends, Bogdan Gajewski – Association of Retired and Pensioned Police Officers, Henryk Lemka – Polish Association of Allotment Gardeners.
The Council’s main objective is to create conditions for using the potential of senior communities in Bolesławiec by representing, strengthening and integrating them, and encouraging civic engagement. This year, the Association of Retired and Pensioned Former Employees of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. expressed its willingness to participate in the work of the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens’ Council operating under the President of Bolesławiec.
“As an advisory and consultative body, the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens’ Council undertook many initiatives and activities aimed at improving the quality of seniors’ daily lives in our city. To properly consider individual problems and make decisions, the Council invited people competent in the issues under discussion to its meetings. It cooperated with many institutions and the people representing them,” Eugenia Wolska, chairwoman of the Council, said. “Summing up the past term, it can confidently be said that it was a busy and interesting time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who cooperated with the Council during its term.”
President of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman thanked the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens’ Council for its many important initiatives, valuable opinions and proposals concerning the development of activities for older people and intergenerational solidarity.
