Ships carrying American troops and military equipment will arrive at ports in Germany, France and the Netherlands. From there, they will travel by rail and road toward Poland and the Baltic states. Military movements in Europe are due to begin later this week. At the start of the operation to move troops to Europe, the transports will be small and should not cause major disruptions on the roads. This will change at the end of February and the beginning of March, when the heaviest equipment is transported.
Starosta Bolesławiecki Tomasz Gabrysiak spoke last year at a press conference about the thousands of US Army vehicles that will pass through the county and city and are expected to stop at the barracks in Bolesławiec: – I will not hide the fact that we will try to arrange this so that the soldiers enter the unit grounds from the rear, that is, from the new bypass, so that they do not drive through the city. I think that this time we will manage to minimize the related problems.
The operation will conclude with joint exercises involving 37,000 NATO soldiers from 18 countries. The exercises will take place in Poland, Germany, the Baltic states and Georgia – reports Deutsche Welle. Defender Europe 2020 is scheduled to end in June. The US Army soldiers will then return home with their equipment.
