On Sunday, January 19, police officers from the Patrol and Intervention Department of the municipal police headquarters in Legnica stopped the driver of a passenger car for a roadside inspection. When he saw the police car, he suddenly accelerated. The officers decided to check what had caused the driver's unusual behavior.
As it turned out, the 35-year-old man had got behind the wheel after taking drugs. What is more, he had a packet of amphetamine on him.
To make matters worse, it emerged that the suspect was wanted under two arrest warrants, by the courts in Złotoryja and Legnica. He has a total prison sentence of three years to serve.
The man was taken to police custody. He now faces an additional sentence of up to three years in prison.
