A reader told us about an incident that happened to her mother on Wednesday, 16 January 2020. The reader’s mother was returning from shopping and was near Primary School No. 1 when this man approached her. He was friendly and addressed her very pleasantly:

You remind me of my grandmother. I have some pots as a gift for you because you look so much like her. I’m just coming back from the market and I have pots.

The man had a box of pots with him.

The older woman trusted the man. She agreed to let him drive her to her apartment and help carry in the pots. She invited him into her home. The man carried a box containing a pot and a frying pan into the apartment. After a while, he asked for a few zlotys for fuel, and the woman gave him PLN 200. When he received this amount, he asked for more, and the elderly woman consequently gave him everything she had—all PLN 500.

After learning what had happened to his grandmother, the reader’s son found a similar story online that had also happened to an older man near the Orka swimming pool. The man’s method was similar, with one difference: the older man’s son was at home. According to the account found by the reader’s son, when the man with the pots realised that the older person was not alone at home, he grabbed the box of pots and ran away.

The reader learned about a third encounter with the man carrying pots at work. Her colleague told her that her mother had been approached by him near the Dino shop on Starzyńskiego Street.

The reader reported the matter to the police and the Municipal Guard. Please inform your loved ones.
