The editorial team of the IstotneInformacje.pl portal received a scan of a confidential document containing changes planned by PKP Intercity. This is the company that operates express trains.

According to the plan, from September 1 the last two express trains are supposed to stop running through Bolesławiec (7:40 and 11:25 from Bolesławiec to Wrocław, and 14:31 and 18:44 from Wrocław to Bolesławiec). One train is expected to replace them. However, these are only plans, as it may happen that there will be no express train at all.

“Let us pray that at least this one remains,” a person familiar with PKP Intercity’s plans tells us, wishing to remain anonymous. Our readers who sent us a scan of the document write:

“The PKP Intercity authorities are making cuts to express trains completely blindly! [...] It is still not known whether, from December, trains from Zgorzelec to Warsaw and Przemyśl will operate under the new timetable. We know from leaks that the PKP Intercity authorities are scheming, muddling up the plans and doing everything to prevent trains to Zgorzelec from being launched. No final decisions have been made yet, but this needs to be monitored now, because we will become a railway desert! The only hope lies in the local media and local government authorities.”

At the same time, our readers draw attention to a problem that has arisen on the Bolesławiec–Lwówek Śl.–Jelenia Góra line. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, specifically the Wałbrzych Railway Lines Facility, is not making any effort to repair the damaged section of track, approximately 15 metres long. As a result, passenger traffic on this line is limited, and it is not known how long this will continue. Unofficially, it is said that PKP PLK has a pretext for closing the line completely. This line has been at risk for several years, and only the determination of local governments and communities is keeping it alive.

There is another aspect to this matter. From December, the operation of this line is to be taken over from PKP Przewozy Regionalne by the regional Koleje Dolnośląskie (KD). Since KD are competitors of PKP, the PKP authorities (PLK and PR) are doing everything, as our readers write, to make it difficult for Koleje Dolnośląskie to operate.
