On January 1, before 10:00 p.m., the duty officer at the Zgorzelec police headquarters received a report concerning the mistreatment of a dog by one of the residents of Pieńsk Municipality. At the scene, officers from the local police station found a representative of an association dedicated to animal protection. The officers:
According to the man’s account, he had already been at the scene at around 8:00 p.m., but called the police only after the dog’s owner had gone to work.
The officers established that the incident had occurred on New Year’s Eve, in the morning. KPP Zgorzelec:
Acting in accordance with the applicable law and taking the circumstances of the incident into account, the officers immediately undertook procedural activities after the owner returned to his place of residence. These included an inspection of the indicated location, questioning the direct witness to the incident, and interviewing the dog’s owner.
The 58-year-old was arrested. He has already been charged.
The man confessed. He now faces between three months and as many as five years in prison.
