A workshop meeting of the project participants, RATING FIREMEK, was held in Bolesławiec. The activities of 30 firemki were presented: 15 Polish and 15 Czech.
The students run businesses connected, among other things, with graphic and advertising services, create websites, provide services in the mechatronics, catering and hotel industries, and offer care and support services for older people. They also create floral arrangements, produce artistic ceramics and engage in artistic blacksmithing.
Everything depends on the young people’s ingenuity. The FIREMKI operate under the guidance of mentor-supervisors. They assess individual initiatives in terms of their chances of maintaining a business under market conditions and indicate possible directions for development.
Young people learn how to run a business. Students must take care of formalities, pay taxes and other levies, and ensure supplies and find markets for their products and services. Firemki are simulations of real companies operating in conditions of market competition. The project focuses on entrepreneurship as a key competence for the labour market in Poland and the Czech Republic. During regular meetings, students will exchange experiences with their peers from Lubań and Zgorzelec counties and from four Czech schools.
The main aim of the project is to prepare young people who, after completing school, must choose their professional path and use the competences they have acquired to find their place in the labour market—and achieve success.
The project is financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Czech Republic–Poland Programme.
