Last Saturday (23 November), a few minutes after 11:00 a.m., an accident involving a truck and a delivery van occurred on the A4 motorway toward Wrocław, immediately beyond the Lubiatów exit. Preliminary findings indicate that the 28-year-old delivery van driver, travelling at high speed, crashed into the rear of a properly marked truck that was stopped in the right lane due to an engine failure. Firefighters came to the aid of the man trapped in the cab. The 28-year-old was taken to a hospital in Legnica, but despite the assistance provided, he could not be saved.
The road toward Wrocław was completely closed for several hours. At the scene, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja and a road accident expert carried out activities under the supervision of a prosecutor. Based on the evidence collected and traces secured at the scene, police are currently determining the circumstances and cause of the accident. The truck driver was sober.
In view of the incident described above, we appeal to the residents of our county to exercise caution on the road and drive in accordance with the regulations. Let us remember that every driver must take into account many factors that have a significant impact on safety, including the condition of the road surface, traffic volume, speed limits and even dazzling sunlight. Every risk factor combined with limited experience, a driver's poor well-being or the poor technical condition of a vehicle can lead to an accident or collision.
Let us take care of our safety and that of other road users!
