A tragic accident occurred on November 20, at around seven o’clock, in the Ścinawa municipality. According to the police’s preliminary findings, a 58-year-old resident of Trzebnica County, who was driving a Mercedes delivery van towards Dłużyce, began overtaking a coach on a straight stretch of road. And... he collided head-on with a cyclist traveling in the opposite direction, a 52-year-old from the Ścinawa municipality. The cyclist died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Lubin police:

Investigators, under the supervision of a prosecutor, will now examine the circumstances of this tragic incident in detail.

The officers add:

We appeal to all road users to remain vigilant and exercise caution on the road. Any maneuver behind the wheel can turn into an incident with tragic consequences in a split second.

We also appeal to vulnerable road users—especially pedestrians and cyclists. It is worth using reflective elements or a flashlight, particularly in the early morning and after dusk, when visibility is poorer and dark-colored clothing means that a pedestrian is noticed by a driver only at the last moment.

A person equipped with a reflective element is visible to a driver from a much greater distance, allowing for an earlier reaction. A bicycle should, as required, be equipped with working front and rear lights.

Let us remember that our safety largely depends on us ourselves.
