On November 15, a man posing as a police officer called 5 people living in Bolesławiec. The alleged law enforcement officer warned the seniors that a fraud could occur. He also told them that if they did not want to lose their money, they had to go to a bank.
KPP Bolesławiec:
The calls were answered by people aged 68 to 79; each of them was aware of the risks associated with fraud and was not fooled by the criminals.
Police officers from Bolesławiec continue to conduct preventive activities aimed at making seniors aware of everyday risks and familiarizing them with criminals’ methods. They inform not only seniors about such methods, but also school students, so that the latter can remind their grandparents during conversations about the tactics used by brazen criminals.
Officers:
Let us remember that the principle of limited trust toward strangers applies not only to children. Adults often forget about it and become victims of their own gullibility and lack of caution.
Unexpected calls from people posing as officials, officers or family members—as well as long-unseen grandchildren or nieces—do not have to end in financial loss if we remain vigilant.
And they add:
Let us not be deceived! Discuss unusual situations that happen to us with other family members, and report any suspicious requests to lend money to the police by calling the emergency number 997 or 112. Do not be afraid that the alert may turn out to be false.
