Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:

It should be emphasized that every year a significant number of deaths caused by hypothermia are recorded. Frequent temperature drops during the autumn and winter period pose a potential threat to the lives and health of homeless, solitary and helpless people, people under the influence of alcohol, and the elderly.

Therefore, as in previous years, officers are conducting the Winter Action. “The preventive measures undertaken by the officers will aim to limit events with tragic consequences and provide assistance to as many people in need as possible,” the police officers say.

As part of the operation, the police will continuously monitor and check places where homeless people may stay: parks, allotment gardens, heating hubs, railway and bus stations, as well as places where they most often consume alcohol, namely abandoned buildings.

KWP:

All activities will be assistance-oriented; therefore, while carrying out their official duties, police officers will provide people in need with information and all necessary help in reaching facilities that assist homeless people and others requiring care.

The officers also appeal to all residents of our voivodeship to inform the police and other services about every person they notice who is in a situation that could lead to hypothermia:

Let us not remain indifferent to such people. In such a situation, it is enough to respond and notify the appropriate services.

They also add:

Let us remember that someone’s life may depend on our involvement and help. Sometimes one phone call is enough.
